Cadillac’s SUV offerings are pretty slim right now, but the American luxury automaker is finally adding more crossover models to its lineup.
The 2019
Cadillac XT3 has been spied testing for the first time, confirming that a compact crossover to compete with the BMW X3 and Audi Q3 is coming soon. The XT3 will slot under the XT5 in terms of size and price when it arrives sometime in 2018. So far,
Cadillac only has two SUVs — the mid-size XT5 and full-size Escalade — even though the popularity of crossovers continues to rise.
Although this prototype is covered under heavy camouflage, spy photographers could see the signature
Cadillac pentagonal grille, sharp LED head lights, and an intercooler in the front bumper that suggests a turbocharged engine is being tested. When the XT3 arrives, expect it to offer a turbo four-cylinder engine with standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. A nine-speed transmission is likely, and the crossover will probably be available with Cadillac’s unique rear-view mirror monitor that displays a wide-angle feed of what’s behind the vehicle.
The Cadillac XT3 will likely debut in mid-2018 as a 2019 model year vehicle. An even smaller Cadillac XT1 is also rumored to be in the pipeline to compete with the BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
